Minnie the Moocher

We are currently training a 9 month year old Golden Kelpie (cross Dingo?). This is the first time we have had a dog on the property. She’s a star and we are idiots. Together we’re taking two steps forward and one step back every day. We’ve started her on the sheep the last couple of days. Huge improvements each session. We are using the Ted Hope method of penning sheep in a small corral. Minnie walks clockwise (“come by”) and learns to calm down and listen to her master. We are learning quickly and there are endless little tips and tricks. Have a look at a couple of videos from the session this morning (28 June 2023). She goes from down with a lead pull to going down independently. 10 mins a day is all that is required at this point. Sheep are also calmer than the first day which helps an unbaalievable amount.
